Veg Omelette | Eggless Omelette | Moonglet is a simple and healthy recipe prepared from moong dal, rice flour, potato, carrot, onion, and some spices. Moong dal is a rich source of protein. This dish is a unique way to add the moong dal to your kid’s meal, who does not like it. It is a perfect recipe that you can try for your family. This dish goes well with the tomato chutney. Ingredients

  • Yellow Lentils / Moong Dal - 1 Cup
  • Water - As required
  • Potato / Aloo - 1 Chopped
  • Green Chilli / Hari Mirchi - 2
  • Rice Flour / Chawal Ka Aata - 1 tsp
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Carrot / Gajar - 1 Grated
  • Onion / Pyaz - 1 Finely chopped
  • Coriander Leaves / Hara Dhaniya - A handful
  • Carom Seeds / Ajwain - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - As required
  • tsp = teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak moong dal for 1 hour. Then transfer it to a grinding jar. Add potato. 1 green chilli, rice flour, and salt. Grind it for a few seconds to prepare a medium-thick consistency batter.
  2. Take it out in a mixing bowl. Add carrot, onion, coriander leaves, 1 finely chopped green chilli, and carom seeds. Mix well.
  3. Heat the tawa on a medium to low flame. Before making the moonglet, spread the oil to the tawa using onion’s top part to spread the moonglet evenly.
  4. Pour the batter on the tawa to spread the moonglet evenly. Add some drops of oil on it.
  5. Cook it for 1 to 2 minutes on medium flame until it becomes nice golden brown and crispy. Then flip it to cook the other side as well. Add some drops of oil on it.
  6. Once done, take it out to a serving plate.
  7. 'Veg Omelette | Eggless Omelette | Moonglet' is ready to be served with tomato chutney.
