Namak Pare | Khasta Namak Pare is a crunchy festival and tea time snack.

Namak Pare | Khasta Namak Pare is a crispy and crunchy snack. This is quick and easy to prepare with a few ingredients which are easily available at home. It does not require much preparation, efforts and time. You can easily prepare this snack and store it. This is a popular snack item during festivals like Diwali. Everyone loves this snack especially kids. This can be a munching snack for everyone. So, try to make this snack at home and enjoy with your loved ones.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Add hot ghee to the flour while making the dough. This will make it crispier.
  • Resting the dough is very important so, rest the dough for at least 10 minutes.
  • Prick the namak pare with a knife. This will help to cook it from inside.

Ingredients

  • Maida/Refined Flour - 1/2 Cup
  • Rava/Sooji/Semolina - 1 Tablespoon
  • Cumin seed - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli Powder - as per taste
  • Hot Ghee/Clarified Butter - 2 Tablespoon
  • Oil - as required for frying

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl and add refined flour, semolina, salr, cumin seeds, red chilli powder. Mix well. Add hot ghee and mix well. Add water to make semi soft dough. Rest the dough for atleast 10 minutes.
  2. After 10 minutes, roll the dough little thick. Prick it with the help of knife. Then cut it into diamond shape.
  3. Meanwhile, heat oil for frying.
  4. Once the oil is hot, add namak pare and fry it on a medium flame. Once they turn nice light golden, take them out on a tissue paper. Let them cool.
  5. Delicious 'Namak Pare | Khasta Namak Pare' is ready to be served.
