Pallli Tomato Chutney | Palli Tomato Pachadi is a popular and best chutney for breakfast items. It tastes very good, as a side dish. You can serve it with idli, dosa, vada, uthappam. Ingredients

  • Peanuts/ Palli - 1.5 cups
  • Tamatar/Tomatoes - 4 no
  • Hari mirchi/Green Chilies - 6 to 8 (as per taste)
  • Imli/Tamarind - 1/4 inch piece
  • Lehsun kali/Garlic cloves - 4 no (optional)
  • Rai/Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Jeera/Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Hing powder/Asafoetida powder - 1/4th teaspoon
  • Lal Mirchi/Red Chilli - 2 no
  • Curry leaves as required
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil - 2 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Cut the green chilies into half, in a pan add 1 tablespoon oil and fry green chilies and take out in a plate.
  2. In the same oil put peanuts and fry till they are well roasted. Take out on a plate.
  3. Add 1teaspoon oil to the same pan and put tomato pieces and cook till it becomes soft. Once cooked allow it to cool down for 5 minutes.
  4. In a mixer jar, add fried peanuts/palli, green chilies, garlic cloves, jeera, tamarind, little salt and blend coarsely.
  5. Add cooked tomatoes to the same mixture and blend to a smooth paste. Put required salt, adjust chutney consistency by adding water.
  6. For tempering the chutney, in a pan add oil, once oil is heated, put mustard seeds, jeera, hing powder, lal mirchi, curry leaves.
  7. Put the tempering over the chutney and garnish with coriander leaves.
  8. The Palli Tomato Chutney | Palli Tomato Pachadi is ready to serve with idli, dosa, vada and uthappam.
