Patta Gobhi Sabji | South Indian Style is a simple and delicious side dish served with Indian meals.

Patta Gobhi Sabji | South Indian Style is a home-cooked dry curry with cabbage, fenugreek leaves, tomato, and peas. Cabbage is healthy, vegan, and gluten-free. Although you do not need a pressure cooker to cook cabbage. This is our no onion no garlic recipe. Kids will love this dish rolled in their rotis and also goes well in a lunch box with some rice or paratha. Try this new recipe and share your feedback in our comment box.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef: 

  • You can use dry Kasuri Methi in the end or coriander leaves if green fenugreek leaves are not available.
  • Serve this sabji with rice, roti, or paratha.
  • Cabbage sabji requires less amount of salt So, add salt carefully.
  • Add sweet corn, spring onion to make this dish colorful.

Ingredients

  • Oil - 2 Tablespoons
  • Mustard seeds / Rai - 1 Teaspoon
  • Split Black Gram / Urad Dal - 1 Teaspoon (optional )
  • Asafoetida / Hing - 1 Pinch
  • Turmeric Powder / Haldi - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Curry Leaves / kadhi Patta - Few Leaves
  • Green Chilli / Hari Mirchi - 3 Or As Per Taste
  • Fenugreek Leaves / Hari Methi - 1 Cup Finely Chopped
  • Tomato / Tamatar - 1 Finely Chopped
  • Salt - As Per Taste
  • Cabbage / Patta Gobhi - 1 Finely Chopped
  • Peas / Matar - 1/4 Cup
  • Coriander Leaves / Hara Dhaniya - For Garnishing

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, split black gram, asafoetida, turmeric powder, curry leaves, green chilli mix it well, then add washed fenugreek leaves and saute it for 1 minute then add tomato and mix it.
  2. Cook this sabji on low to medium flame. Add salt then mix it well and cook it for 1 to 2 minutes more till tomato become soft.
  3. Now add washed cabbage and mix it well then add peas and cook it well for 2 minutes. Garnish it with coriander leaves. Transfer in a serving bowl.
  4. Patta Gobhi Sabji | South Indian Style is ready to serve.
