Pav Bhaji | Mumbai Famous Pav Bhaji is a world-famous dish and loved by everyone. 

Pav Bhaji | Mumbai Famous Pav Bhaji uses lots of veggies and a special masala – pav bhaji masala. This is very easy to prepare with easily available ingredients. This is famous street food in Mumbai. You can enjoy this dish as a snack or a meal. This bhaji is served with pav- a type of bread. Everyone loves to have this pav bhaji. This is not only tasty but healthy as this uses lots of veggies. In this way, you can incorporate lots of veggies into your diet. So, try to make this popular dish at home and relish with your loved ones. Do share your feedback as well.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • For the red colour of bhaji, Kashmiri red chillies used. You can adjust the spiciness according to your taste.
  • You can use vegetables of your choice. But do add potato, carrot, peas.
  • Serve it with Ladi Pav | Homemade Whole Wheat Pav and lots of butter.

Ingredients

  • Potato - 4
  • Green Peas - 100 Gram
  • Carrot - 2
  • Green chilli - 1 chopped
  • Asafoetida/HIng - a pinch
  • Garlic - 8 to 10
  • Dry Kashmiri Red Chilli - 4 to 6
  • Onion - 2 finely chopped + for serving
  • Capsicum - 1 finely chopped
  • Tomato - 3 finely chopped
  • Garam Masala/All spice mix - 1 Teaspoon
  • Pav BHaji Masala - 1 to 2 Teaspoon
  • Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder - 1 Teaspoon or as per taste
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Lemon - 1
  • Coriander Leaves - a handful chopped + for serving
  • Butter - 4 to 6 Tablespoon + for serving
  • Oil - 1 to 2 Tablespoon
  • Pav - 4 for serving

Instructions

  1. Wash and pressure cook potato, carrot and green peas with 1 glass of water. Then strain the water and keep it aside.
  2. Mash the vegetables using a masher.
  3. Make paste of dry Kashmiri Red Chillies and garlic pods. Add little salt and water while grinding. Keep aside.
  4. Heat 2 Tablespoon butter and oil in a kadai.
  5. Add asafoetida, green chilli and saute for few seconds.
  6. Then add a teaspoon of red chilli-garlic paste. Add onion and saute.
  7. Add capsicum and tomato. Mix well and cook on a low flame by covering with a lid.
  8. Once the veggies gets softened, add garam masala, pav bhaji masala, kashmiri red chilli powder, salt. Mix well and cook for a minute.
  9. Then add mashed vegetables. Mix well. Adjust the consistency by adding strained water of the veggies ( vegetable stock). Mix well and cook for a minute then switch off the gas.
  10. Finally, add lemon juice, coriander leaves, 2 tablespoon butter. Cover with a lid for a minute.
  11. Heat a tawa or a pan. Add butter and toast the pav.
  12. Serving Suggestion:- Take a serving plate, pour the bhaji. Top it with a dollop of butter. Garnish it with chopped onion and coriander leaves. Serve it with pav.
  13. Delicious 'Pav Bhaji | Mumbai Famous Pav Bhaji' is ready to be served.
