Sev Puri | Mumbai Chowpatty Style is a famous and every Mumbaikar’s favourite street food.

Sev Puri | Mumbai Chowpatty Style is famous street food or popular as chaat of Mumbai. It has different names Batata Puri or Sev Batata Puri. Since this delicious bite has many different chutneys in it, this dish has many different flavours. It is a package filled with different flavours like tanginess, sweetness, spice and the papdi gives this dish a crunch. This is a quick and easy recipe and a must-try recipe. Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • You can use Tamarind/ Imli Chutney instead of Dates/ Khajur Chutney.
  • For preparing the chutney, the amount of water can change as per the required consistency.
  • While making the garlic/ lehsun chutney, remember to first make it as a dry chutney and then add water as per required consistency.

Ingredients

  • Papdi - 6 pieces
  • Potato - 1/2 Boiled and mashed
  • Onion/ Pyaaz - 1/2 finely chopped
  • Groundnuts/ Moongfali - 6 to 7 (optional)
  • Sev/Nylon Sev - as per requirement
  • Coriander Leaves/ Dhaniya Patta - Finely chopped for garnishing
  • Mint/ Pudina Chutney - as per taste
  • INGREDIENTS FOR GARLIC CHUTNEY:-
  • Garlic/ Lehsun - 3 to 4 cloves
  • Lemon juice - juice of 1/2 Lemon
  • Salt/ Namak - as per taste
  • Cumin/ Jeera Powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Water - as per requirement
  • INGREDIENTS FOR KHAJOOR CHUTNEY:-
  • Dates/ Khajur - as per requirement
  • Lemon juice - juice of 1/2 Lemon
  • Salt/ Namak - as per taste
  • Water - as per requirement

Instructions

  1. PREPARING LEHSUN/GARLIC CHUTNEY:-
  2. Peel 3 to 4 garlic cloves and wash it properly.
  3. Add lime juice of about 1/2 a lemon and salt and cumin powder as per taste in a grinder and make a dry chutney. Add water to it as per required consistency.
  4. PREPARING KHAJOOR/DATES CHUTNEY:-
  5. Boil some dates. After it cools down put it in grinder and lemon juice of about 1/2 a lemon.
  6. Add salt and cumin powder as per taste. Add water as per required consistency.
  7. PREPARING THE SEV PURI:-
  8. Place 6 pieces of papdis on a serving plate.
  9. Put 1/2 boiled and mashed potato on top of each piece followed by 1/2 finely chopped onion on it.
  10. You can also add groundnuts on each piece. Then add pudina chutney, lehsun chutney and khajur chutney on it as per your taste.
  11. Garnish it with some sev and finely chopped coriander leaves.
  12. Sev Puri | Mumbai Chowpatty Style is ready to be served.
