Sewaiyan Upma | Vermicelli Upma is an easy breakfast item.

Sewaiyan Upma | Vermicelli Upma is a very famous Indian breakfast dish. The sewaiyan upma dish preparation is different in some form at every house-hold. This is a very easy and simple recipe to follow. It requires vermicelli, onion, green chili, green peas, peanuts and tomatoes. Adding, the vegetables and cooking them on slow flame really imparts it a different flavor and taste. Moreover, it is a very healthy dish. Kids will also like this dish. Tips and suggestions by the Chef:-

  • Saute the vegetables on low flame, so that the upma will become more tasty.
  • First roast the plain vermicelli/sewaiyan for 1 minute.

Ingredients

  • Oil - 2 tablespoon
  • Mustard seeds/Rai - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion/Pyaz - 1 no finely chopped
  • Green chili/Hari mirch - 1 no finely chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Green peas/Hare matar - as required
  • Tomato/Tamatar - 1/2 to 1 no finely chopped
  • Peanuts/Mungfali - as required
  • Sewaiyan/Vermicelli - 1/2 to 1 cup (roasted & boiled)
  • Coriander leaves - to garnish
  • Namkeen sev - to garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan, then add mustard seeds, finely chopped onion, green chili and salt to taste. Saute on low flame for 1 minute.
  2. Put the green peas, finely chopped tomato and peanuts. Saute well for 1 minute. If the sewaiyan is plain, then roast the sewaiyan for 1 minute and cook them in boiling water for 3 minutes.
  3. Add the boiled sewaiyan, mix well and cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Garnish the upma with coriander leaves and namkeen sev.
  4. The Sewaiyan Upma | Vermicelli Upma is ready to be served.
