This recipe uses simple ingredients like suji or semolina, vegetables, and some spices to add different flavours. This is a simple recipe as it includes no efforts in standing and flipping the handvo to cook it thoroughly. This is a very quick recipe as it does not require any elaborate preparation to cook this.   • You can use any vegetables that you like or are available to you.
  • Remember to pre-heat the air-fryer before adding the batter.
  • Remember to put the soda just before you put the tin in.
  • While preparing the tadka, remember to switch off the flame and then add the sesame seeds.
  • To give the handvo a pleasant look, sprinkle some sesame seeds after pour in the batter.
  • Instead of using butter paper, you can sprinkle some maida or all-purpose flour after greasing the tin with oil.

Ingredients

  • Suji/ Semolina - 1 cup
  • Dahi/ Curd - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - as required consistency
  • Hari mirch/ Green chilli - as per taste finely chopped
  • Adrak/ Ginger - 1/4 teaspoon grated
  • Pyaaz/ Onion - 1 tablespoon finely chopped
  • Gajar/ Carrot - 1 tablespoon grated
  • Shimlamirch/ Capsicum (red, yellow and green) - 1 tablespoon each finely chopped
  • Tamatar/ Tomato - 1 tablespoon finely chopped
  • Dhaniya patta/ Corainder leaves - a handful
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Laal mirch powder/ Red chilli powder - as per taste
  • Roasted Jeera powder/ Cumin seeds powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala/ All spice mix - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Rai/ Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Curry patta/ Curry leaves - 5 to 6 leaves
  • Til/ Sesame seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Nimbu ras/ Lemon juice - 1 lemon
  • Cheeni/ Sugar - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fruit soda - 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, add semolina, curd and water to it and mix them well to make a batter. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  2. After 10 minutes, add some more water to make a thick batter.
  3. Meanwhile, heat oil in a tadka pan, add mustard seeds and let it crackle. Add curry leaves and turn off the flame. Add sesame seeds to the pan.
  4. Add green chilli, ginger, onion, carrot, capsicum, tomato, coriander leaves, salt, red chilli powder, cumin seeds powder, and garam masala to the bowl and mix them well. Add water as per required consistency.
  5. Add tadka to the bowl and mix it well.
  6. Add lemon juice to the bowl and mix it well with the other ingredients.
  7. Grease the cake tin with oil and place a butter paper on it.
  8. Add cooking soda in the batter and mix it well.
  9. Grease the butter paper with oil and spread the batter evenly on it.
  10. Meanwhile, pre-heat the air-fryer on 200 degrees for 5 minutes.
  11. Place the cake tin on the air-fryer and set it on 200 degrees for 15 minutes.
  12. While removing the handvo, scrape the edges of the tin and let it cool completely. After it cools down, flip the tin on a plate and tap out the handvo.
  13. Sooji Haandvo | Suji Handvo In Air-Fryer is ready to be served.
