This recipe was prepared using Weikfield cocoa powder, Weikfield baking powder and Weikfield baking soda by a lovely Mom: Shveta Sheth

Tips and Suggestions by a Mom Chef:

  • Any type of odorless vegetable oil can be used to make the cake.
  • The consistency of the batter should be flowing consistency.
  • Use a heavy bottom pan to prepare this cake.
  • Don’t open the lid while the cake is baking.
  • check the cake by inserting a toothpick. If it comes out clean then the cake is ready.
  • FOR MAKING CAKE IN OTG :
  • Preheat OTG at 180 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes.
  • Bake the cake at 180 degrees Celsius for 30 to 32 minutes.

Ingredients

  • FOR PREPARING WET INGREDIENTS :
  • Powdered Sugar - 3/4 Cup
  • Curd / Dahi - 1/3 Cup
  • Oil - 1/4 Cup
  • Vanilla Essence - 1 tsp
  • FOR PREPARING DRY INGREDIENTS :
  • All Purpose Flour / Maida - 1 Cup
  • Salt - A pinch
  • Weikfield Baking Powder - 1 tsp
  • Weikfield Baking Soda - 1/4 tsp
  • OTHER INGREDIENTS :
  • Water - As required
  • Weikfield Cocoa Powder - 1 & 1/2 tbsp
  • Oil - As required for greasing
  • tsp = teaspoon
  • tbsp = tablespoon

Instructions

  1. FOR PREPARING WET INGREDIENTS :
  2. Take powdered sugar in a bowl. Add curd, oil, and vanilla essence. Whisk it using a whisker.
  3. FOR PREPARING DRY INGREDIENTS :
  4. Now take another big bowl and put a sieve on it. Add all purpose flour, salt, weikfield baking powder, and weikfield baking soda. Then sieve them.
  5. FOR PREPARING CAKE :
  6. Take a heavy bottom pan. Put a ring in it. Now cover that pan with its lid.
  7. Then heat the prepared heavy bottom pan for 10 minutes on low flame.
  8. Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix well using a whisker.
  9. Add water gradually to prepare a flowing consistency batter.
  10. Divide the batter into two parts. In one portion, add the weikfield cocoa powder and little water. Mix well. Keep the other portion plain.
  11. Brush a cake tin with oil. Line it with butter paper and grease it again with oil. Then, pour a spoonful of the plain batter in the middle of the cake tin. Then pour a spoonful of the chocolate batter in the centre on the top of the plain batter. Repeat this process till the two batters are over.
  12. Take a toothpick and slide it lightly from the middle to the circumference of the cake batter. Similarly, draw a few more lines from the middle to different points on the circumference of the batter. Tap the cake tin gently to level the batter and also remove air bubbles from it.
  13. Now place the prepared cake tin on the ring of the preheated pan. Bake it for 35 to 40 minutes on low flame.
  14. After 35 minutes, check the cake by inserting a toothpick. If it comes out clean then the cake is ready.
  15. Once the cake is baked well, allow it to cool down for 5 minutes. then release its edges from the cake tin using a knife. Then transfer it to a grill or wire rack and immediately remove the butter paper.
  16. Then cut it and take it out on a serving plate.
