Bhel Puri | Bhel Poori is a popular street food famous across India.

Bhel Puri | Bhel Poori is a yummy snack originated from the choupati of Mumbai. This is a delicious chaat which is spicy, tangy in taste. This uses murmure/puffed rice, sev, crispy puri/papdi, some veggies like tomato, onion, potato, different types of chutneys. This is super quick and easy to prepare as well. Moreover, you can prepare the bhel mixture and store. Then you need to mix veggies and chutneys to prepare the bhel. Everyone in the family will love and enjoy this snack. Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Roast the murmure/puffed rice on a low flame while stirring it continuously.
  • You can store the bel mixture (roasted murmure, sev, papdi) in an airtight container for a longer time.
  • Make this bhel using green chutney and khajoor ki chutney and homemade chaat masala.

Ingredients

  • INGREDIENTS FOR BHEL MIXTURE:
  • Murmure/puffed rice - 1 Cup
  • Oil - 1 Tablespoon
  • Hing/Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Papdi/Crispy puri - as required
  • Nylon Sev - 1/4 Cup
  • INGREDIENTS FOR BHEL PURI/POORI:-
  • Tomato - 1 finely chopped
  • Onion - 1 finely chopped
  • Boiled potato - 1 finely chopped
  • Raw mango/kacha aam - 2 to 3 Tablespoon finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - a handful chopped
  • Green chutney - as per taste
  • Sweet Khajooor Chutney - as per taste
  • Chaat masala - as per taste
  • Lemon juice - as per taste
  • Nylon sev - as required for garnishing
  • Papdi/Crispy puri - as required for garnishing

Instructions

  1. PREPARING THE BHEL MIXTURE:- Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Add asafoetida, turmeric powder, salt. Then add murmure/puffed rice. Mix well and saute it on a low flame while stirring continuously. Roast it until it is crisp or for 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Let it cool completely once done. Add nylon sev and papdi/crispy puri pieces. Mix well. Keep this mixture in an airtight container.
  4. PREPARING THE BHEL:- Take a bowl and add bhel mixture, chopped tomato, onion, boiled potato, coriander leaves, raw mango, green chutney. khajoor chutney, chaat masala, lemon juice. Mix well with hands. Transfer the bhel on serving plate. Garnish it with nylon sev and papdi/crispy puri pieces.
  5. Delicious 'Bhel Puri | Bhel Poori' is ready to be served. Serve it immediately.
