Dahi Wali Moong Ki Sabji is an innovative curry and it is delicious too. 

Dahi Wali Moong Ki Sabji is a curry of whole green gram or sabut moong. This is a mouthwatering curry goes well with roti, paratha and rice. The moong is cooked in the based gravy with some spice. This has no onion and no garlic so suitable for everyone. Moreover, it is very healthy and tasty too. This does not require much cooking time and preparation. Everyone will love this new type of curry. So, make this curry by following this simple recipe and enjoy with your loved ones.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Cook the whole green gram/sabut moong for 6 to 7 whistles so that it gets cooked completely (it should be little mushy). Else the curry will not taste good.
  • Make sure the curd is at room temperature before making the curry. Else there will be chances of curdling.

Ingredients

  • Whole Green Gram/Sabut Moong - 1 Cup
  • Curd - 1 Cup
  • Besan/Gram Flour - 1 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Water - as required
  • Rai/Mustard seeds - 1 Teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 Teaspoon
  • Asafoetida/Hing - a pinch
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch pieces grated
  • Green Chilli - 1 to 2 chopped
  • Curry Leaves - few
  • Coriander leaves - a handful chopped
  • Oil - 1 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Soak the sabut moong/whole green gram for atleast 6 to 7 hours or overnight. Then pressure cook it for 6 to 7 whistles. Let it cook and keep aside.
  2. Now, heat oil in a pan.
  3. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and asafoetida. Let the seeds crackle.
  4. Then add grated ginger, chopped green chilli and curry leaves. Saute it for few seconds.
  5. Add cooked moong and mix well. Cook for a minute.
  6. Take a bowl and add curd, besan/gram flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder. Mix well and add water to make it like buttermilk. Mix well to make it lumps free.
  7. Add the curd mixture to the pan. Mix well on a high flame while stirring continuously. Bring it to boil and switch off the gas. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
  8. Delicious 'Dahi Wali Moong Ki Sabji' is ready to be served.
