Sev Tamatar Ki sabji | Dhaba Style Sev Tamatar is a very popular and lip-smacking curry for everyone.

Sev Tamatar Ki sabji | Dhaba Style Sev Tamatar is a quick and easy curry prepared without onion and garlic. This requires only a few ingredients and it gets ready within 10 minutes. This is a good option when you do not have any vegetables at home. This dhaba style curry goes well with roti, paratha. This does not require onion and garlic hence everyone can enjoy this sabji. If you have namkeen sev and tomato at home then you can easily prepare this curry. So, try to make this curry at home and enjoy with your loved ones.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • It is recommended to use little hard sev to make the curry as they will not turn soft quickly.
  • You can add malai or cream instead of curd.
  • If you are using curd then it should be fresh and at room temperature. Else, the curry will curdle.

Ingredients

  • Thick/Mota Sev - 1 Cup
  • Tomato - 2 medium sized grated
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch piece grated
  • Green Chilli - 1 finely chopped
  • Hing/asafoetida - a pinch
  • Cumin seeds/Jeera - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Kasuri Methi/Dry Fenugreek Leaves - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder - 1 Tablespoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1 Teaspoon or as per taste
  • Fresh Curd - 2 Tablespoon
  • Garam Masala/All spice mix - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Ghee/Clarified Butter - 2 Tablespoon
  • Coriander Leaves - a handful chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a kadai or pan.
  2. Add asafoetida then cumin seeds. Let the seeds crackle.
  3. Add grated ginger and chopped green chilli. Saute it for few seconds.
  4. Now, add kasuri methi/dry fenugreek leaves, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder. Mix well and saute. Add 1 tablespoon water to it so that masala will not burn. Cook for a minute.
  5. Add grated tomato and cook it on a high flame.
  6. Once the oil leaves from sides, add fresh curd. Mix well and cook it while stirring continuously. Bring it to boil.
  7. Then add salt and garam masala. Mix well and cook.
  8. Add 1/4 cup water, mix well and bring it to boil.
  9. Once the gravy is boiled lower the flame and add sev to it. Cover the pan and cook it for 1 to 2 minutes on a low flame. Then switch off the gas.
  10. Delicious 'Sev Tamatar Ki sabji | Dhaba Style Sev Tamatar' is ready to be served. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve hot.
