Falafel With Hummus is a protine-loaded gluten-free dish. It is a deep-fried fritter made from ground chickpeas, mixed with herbs, and spices. Falafel is commonly served with hummus. You can prepare it very easily. It has the goodness of chickpeas which makes it nutritious. So it is a healthy dish for all age groups. Serve it as a starter or an appetizer on your special occasion. Ingredients

  • FOR PREPARING FALAFEL :
  • Chickpea / Chhole - 1 Cup
  • Onion / Pyaz - 1 Chopped (optional)
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - A handful
  • Mint leaves / Pudina - A few
  • Garlic / Lahsun - 2 to 4 Cloves
  • Green chilli / Hari mirchi - 2 Chopped
  • Roasted cumin seeds powder / Jeera powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Black pepper powder / Kali mirch - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Salt - As Per Taste
  • Lemon juice / Nimbu ka ras - Of 1/2 Lemon
  • Bread crumbs - As required
  • Oil - For frying
  • Cucumber slices / Kheera - 2 to 3
  • Cherry tomato - 2 to 3
  • Chaat masala - As required
  • FOR PREPARING HUMMUS :
  • Chickpea / Chhole - 1/4 Cup
  • Water - As required
  • Salt - As Per Taste
  • Roasted sesame seeds / Til - 2 Teaspoons
  • Curd / Dahi - 2 Tablespoons
  • Roasted cumin seeds powder / Jeera powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Lemon juice / Nimbu ka ras - Of 1/2 Lemon
  • Garlic / Lahsun - 2 to 4 Cloves
  • Olive oil - 2 to 3 Tablespoons + For topping
  • Red chilli powder / lal mirch powder - A pinch

Instructions

  1. FOR PREPARING FALAFEL :
  2. Soak chickpeas overnight.
  3. Take soaked chickpeas, onion, coriander leaves, mint leaves, garlic, green chilli, roasted cumin seeds powder, black pepper powder, salt, and lemon juice in a grinding jar. Coarsely grind it to prepare a thick consistency batter.
  4. Take it out to bowl. Add bread crumbs and mix well. Now prepare small ball sized falafels from it.
  5. Heat oil in a pan to fry the falafel. Place prepared falafel into the hot oil.
  6. Deep fry them on a low to medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes until it turns crispy and golden brown from all sides. Then, take them out on a serving plate using a slotted spoon.
  7. SERVING SUGGESTIONS :
  8. Add falafel to a toothpick. Add cucumber slice and cherry tomato to it. Sprinkle chaat masala to it.
  9. FOR PREPARING HUMMUS :
  10. Soak chickpeas overnight. Transfer soaked chickpeas to a pressure cooker. Add water and salt. Cook it on high flame till 4 to 5 whistles. Once done, strain chickpeas.
  11. Take cooked chickpeas, roasted sesame seeds, roasted cumin seeds powder, curd, salt, lemon juice, garlic, and olive oil in a grinding jar. Grind it for a few seconds.
  12. Now take it out to serving bowl. Pour some olive oil to it. Sprinkle red chilli powder on it.
  13. 'Falafel With Hummus' is ready to be served.
