Moong Dal Badam Halwa | Dal Badam Halwa is a delicious and nutritious dessert.

Moong Dal Badam Halwa | Dal Badam Halwa is made with Dal Badam Halwa premix. This is very quick easy to prepare with only 3 ingredients. You just need this premix, ghee, and milk. This halwa is a healthy and delightful sweet recipe for festivals. It is aromatic and flavorful sweet. Dry fruits and ghee make it very rich. Making moong dal halwa is a quite tedious task. Now, you can enjoy the famous dessert any time using the premix. It takes around 7 to 8 minutes to get ready. So, try to make this halwa at your end and enjoy the festive season with your loved ones.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • For making the pre-mix, wash the water of the dal should be drained after the dal has been well washed . Then immediately roast the dal on a high flame while stirring continuously.
  • Store this premix in a refrigerator for up to a month.
  • The ratio of premix and ghee should be 2:1.  First, use half of the quantity of ghee for roasting the premix. Then add ghee in batches and cook the halwa.
  • The ratio of milk to dal badam pre-mix should be 2:1.
  • Sugar can be use according to taste.
  • Instead of milk, water can be use.

Ingredients

  • INGREDIENTS FOR PRE MIX:-
  • Moong Dal / Green Gram Without Skin / Yellow Split Gram - 2 Cup
  • Badam / Almond - 1/2 cup
  • INGREDIENTS FOR HALWA:-
  • Dal Badam Halwa Pre Mix - 1 Cup
  • Ghee / Clarified Butter - 1/2 Cup
  • Badam / Almond - 5 to 7 Halves
  • Kaju / Cashew - 5 to 7 Halves
  • Pista / Pistachios - 5 to 7 Halves
  • Milk - 2 Cup + 1 to 2 tbsp
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Powdered Sugar - 3/4 Cup
  • Saffron Milk - 8 to 10 strands
  • Cardamom Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • tsp = teaspoon
  • tbsp = tablespoon

Instructions

  1. FOR PREPARING DAL BADAM HALWA PRE MIX:-
  2. Wash the dal/yellow split gram and drain the water completely using a sieve.
  3. Heat a pan on a high flame.
  4. Once the pan is hot add dal and roast it on a high flame. Stir it continuously and roast it for 5 to 6 minutes until it turns nice golden brown.
  5. Then add almonds and roast them along with the dal for 3 to 4 minutes. Then turn off the gas. Let the mix cool completely.
  6. Grind the dal-badam mix coarsely using a grinder. Transfer it an airtight container and store it in a refrigerator. Use this 'Dal Badam Halwa Pre-Mix' for making halwa.
  7. FOR PREPARING THE HALWA:-
  8. Soak saffron in 1 to 2 tbsp of milk for 30 minutes. Keep it aside.
  9. Heat 1/4 cup of ghee in a pan.
  10. Roast chopped almonds, chopped cashews and chopped pistachios. After 2 - 3 minutes, take them out in a bowl and keep them aside.
  11. Now, add dal badam halwa pre-mix in the pan and roast it. Then add a little ghee. Mix it well and roast it on a low flame.
  12. Once it starts bubbling, add milk and water. Mix well and cook it on a high flame. Stir it continuously. Then add saffron milk and mix well.
  13. When it thickens, add a tablespoon ghee and mix well.
  14. After it leaves the pan add sugar and cardamom powder. Mix well and cook. Then add roasted dry nuts to it and mix.
  15. Once the ghee leaves the sides, turn off the gas.
  16. Delicious 'Moong Dal Badam Halwa | Dal Badam Halwa' is ready to be served.
