Moong Dal Paratha is a simple and healthy meal.

Moong Dal Paratha is a healthy yet delicious meal. You can enjoy this paratha with curd or pickle or any chutney of your choice. This is a very healthy paratha as it uses moong dal in it. Moong dal is rich in proteins and is hence, good for kids, as well as, adults. This is not only healthy but is also very simple to prepare. While some parathas are recommended to be greased with ghee while preparing them, this paratha tastes better when greased with oil. Ingredients

  • Moong dal/ Split yellow gram - 2 cups
  • Adrak/ Ginger - small piece
  • Hari mirch/ Green chilli - as per taste
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Kashmiri Laal mirch powder/ Red chilli powder - as per taste
  • Haldi powder/ Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Hing/ Asafoetida - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Garam masala/ All-spice mix - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Saunf/ Fennel seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dhaniya patta/ Coriander leaves - a handful finely chopped
  • Gehu ka atta/ Wheat flour - 2 cups
  • Water - for dough
  • Oil - for greasing

Instructions

  1. Wash thoroughly and soak moong dal for 2 hours. Drain out the excess water.
  2. In a bowl, add soaked moong dal, ginger, green chilli, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida, all spice mix, fennel seeds, and coriander leaves and mix them well.
  3. Add wheat flour and mix it well with other ingredients.
  4. Add water in little amounts and make it into a dough of medium consistency and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  5. Grease your palms with some oil and take a small part of the dough and make it into a ball.
  6. Flatten the dough ball between your palms. Apply dry flour on the dough ball and roll it into a paratha on a flat surface.
  7. Meanwhile, heat a pan and place the paratha on it. Let it cook on one side.
  8. Flip it on to the other side and apply oil on one side. Flip it again and apply oil to this side as well. Cook it properly.
  9. Moong Dal Paratha is ready to be served.
