Peanut Chutney | Groundnut Chutney is a delicious side dish.

Peanut Chutney | Groundnut Chutney is a mouthwatering chutney goes well with idli, dosa, medu vada. This is quick and easy to prepare with fewer ingredients. You have to just roast the ingredients and grind them to make this chutney. This is super easy and simple to prepare using easily available ingredients in the kitchen. It is a very popular chutney from South Indian cuisine and everyone loves this especially kids. So, try to make this chutney at home and enjoy. Do share your feedback as well.

This chutney was prepared by Archana Chakravarthy – a lovely Mom from Karnataka.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • If you do not like dry red chillies, you can use green chillies.
  • Adjust the consistency of chutney according to your taste.
  • Add curry leaves and dry red chillies in the tadka as well if you want.
  • Urad dal in the tadka is completely optional.

Ingredients

  • Roasted Mungfali Peanuts/ Groundnuts - 1 Cup
  • Imli/ Tamarind - 10 gram or amla sized ball
  • Jeera/ Cumin seeds - 1 Teaspoon
  • Sabut Dhaniya/ Coriander Seeds - 1 Teaspoon
  • Sukhi Laal Mirch/ Dry Red Chilli - 3 to 4
  • Curry Patta/ Curry Leaves - few
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Cheeni/ Sugar - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • FOR TADKA:
  • Tel/ Oil - 1 Tablespoon
  • Urad Dal without skin/ Black gram without skin - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Sarso/ Mustard seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Hing/ Asafoetida - a pinch

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan and dry roasted groundnuts, tamarind, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, and dry red chillies for a couple of minutes.
  2. Let the mixture cool completely. Then, grind it to a powder.
  3. Add salt and sugar and grind it again. Add a little water to make a smooth chutney. Then, transfer it to a bowl.
  4. PREPARING THE TADKA:
  5. Heat oil in a tadka pan.
  6. Add urad dal/black gram without skin, mustard seeds, and asafoetida. Let the seeds crackle. Pour this tadka over chutney.
  7. Delicious 'Peanut Chutney' is ready to be served.
