Puran Poli is a traditional sweet paratha of Maharashtra and also prepared in most of the parts of India on a festive occasion.
Puran Poli is basically, a flatbread stuffed with sweet lentil filling. Traditionally it is served with a dollop of ghee/clarified butter. It is just like paratha, but it is stuffed with a sweet filling of moong dal, jaggery and ghee. It is so soft, rich in flavor, and it just melts in the mouth. This mixture is flavored with cardamom powder, which enhances the taste of these polis even more and also lends it a beautiful aroma. Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-
- Knead the dough to a soft consistency.
- Adding some ghee while kneading the dough makes the poli soft.
- The amount of filling should be equal to the amount of dough.
- You can prepare poli using toor dal or chana dal too.
