Ingredients

  • Clarified butter / Ghee - 1 Tbsp
  • Cumin seeds / Jeera - 1 Tsp
  • Green chilli / Hari mirch - 2 to 3 Finely chopped
  • Asafoetida / Hing - A pinch
  • Ginger / Adarak - 1 Inch grated (optional)
  • Onion / Pyaz - 1 Finely chopped
  • Papad - 1
  • Fenugreek seeds / Danamethi - 1/2 Cup
  • Water / pani - As required
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirch powder - 1 Tsp
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1/2 Tsp
  • Coriander powder / Dhaniya powder - 1 Tsp
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - For garnishing
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Tsp = Teaspoon
  • Tbsp = Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Boil fenugreek seeds in water for 3 to 4 minutes. Then wash it. Keep it aside.
  2. Roast the papad and make its pieces. Keep it aside.
  3. Take red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt in a bowl. Add little water and mix well to prepare the spices mixture. Keep it aside.
  4. Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds, green chilli, asafoetida, and ginger. Mix well and saute it for a few seconds.
  5. Now add onion. Saute it for 1 to 2 minutes on medium flame.
  6. Then add the prepared spices mixture, boiled fenugreek seeds, and little water. Mix well and cook it for 1 to 2 minutes until the water starts to boil.
  7. Add roasted papad pieces. Mix well and garnish it with coriander leaves.
  8. 'Pyaz Papad Danamethi Ki Sabji' is ready to be served.
