Sev Tamatar Ki Sabzi is a popular sabzi from Gujarati cuisine. 

Sev Tamatar Ki Sabzi is a delicious sabzi that goes well with roti and chapati even with rice. This is quick and very easy to prepare. The good thing is it does not require many ingredients and cooking time. You just need tomatoes, any type of namkeen sec, spices to prepare this sabzi. You can serve it for lunch and dinner. Moreover, this is a good option when you do not have much time for cooking or when you do not want to cook much. Everyone will this tangy, little spicy and sweet sabzi. Ingredients

  • Tomato/Tamatar - 3 finely chopped
  • Namkeen Sev - 1 Cup
  • Green Chilli - 1 chopped
  • Mustard seeds/Rai - 1 Teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds/Jeera - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Hing/Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Turmeric powder- 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli powder- 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Coriander-Cumin Powder/Dhaniya-Jeera powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Sugar - 1/2 Teaspoon or as per taste (optional)
  • Coriander leaves- a handful chopped
  • Oil - 1 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a kadai or pan.
  2. Add mustard seeds, asafoetida, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, chopped green chilli.
  3. Add finely chopped tomato and mix well. Add salt and mix well. Add 1/2 cup water, cover and let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until the tomatoes are soft. .
  4. Add red chilli powder, coriander-cumin powder, sugar. Mix well and cook on a high flame for a 2 minutes.
  5. Finally, add sev and mix well. Cook for a minute. Add coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
  6. Delicious 'Sev Tamatar Ki Sabzi' is ready to be served.
