Sweet Corn Dhokla

Sweet Corn Dhokla is a mouthwatering dhokla for everyone. 

Sweet Corn Dhokla is a healthy and tasty dhokla with the goodness of corn. This is quick and easy to prepare with easily available ingredients. This is a perfect breakfast and a snack for everyone. It is spongy and soft in texture. You can serve it to your guests as well because it does not require much preparation and time. This is a unique recipe of corn. This has a slight sweet taste because of the sweet corn. Hence everyone will love to have this dhokla. So, try to make this dish at home and enjoy with your loved ones. Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • The ratio of corn paste, semolina and curd should be same (1:1:1).
  • The fruit salt should be added to the batter just before steaming the dhokla.
  • The dhokla should be allowed to cool before it is cut into pieces.

Ingredients

  • Sweet Corn - 1/4 Cup + 1 Tablespoon
  • Semolina/Sooji - 1/4 Cup
  • Ginger-Green Chilli paste - 1/2 Teaspoon or to taste
  • Salt - to taste
  • Turmeric/Haldi powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Curd - 1/4 Cup
  • Fruit Salt (Eno) - 1/2 packet
  • Coriander Leaves - as required, for garnishing
  • FOR TADKA:-
  • Oil - 1 Tablespoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Curry Leaves - a few
  • Asafoetida/Hing - a pinch

Instructions

  1. Make a paste of 1/4 cup sweet corn without adding water.
  2. Boil water in a vessel. And place a stand inside the vessel.
  3. In a bowl, add and mix well sweet corn paste, 1 tablespoon sweet corn, semolina, curd, ginger-garlic paste, salt, and turmeric powder. Mix well.
  4. Grease a plate with oil.
  5. Add fruit salt to the batter and beat it for 2 to 3 minutes. Then pour it into the greased plate.
  6. Put the plate in the vessel and steam the dhokla for 15 minutes on a high flame. Once done, check it by inserting a knife. If it comes out clean then the dhokla is ready. Else, steam it for 2 more minutes.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the tadka.
  8. Heat a tadka pan, and add oil. Then add mustard seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida. Let the seeds crackle and then turn off the gas.
  9. Pour the tadka on the dhokla. Spread it with the help of a spatula. Cut it in to pieces.
  10. Delicious 'Sweet Corn Dhokla' is ready to be served. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve.
