Tiffin Snack Recipe | Masala Poori and Jeera Aloo is a lip-smacking tiffin option and breakfast for all. This is super quick and easy to prepare too. The masala poori is crispy and flavourful poori. Whereas the potato is flavoured with cumin and spices. This is a 5-minute recipe if you have boiled potato. Kids will love this tiffin as kids like to eat fried stuff more. You can prepare this tiffin in the morning with no time. So, try this tiffin option for your family and let us know your feedback.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • You can boil the potato in the previous night. Then Jeera aloo gets ready within 5 minutes.
  • Add lemon juice to the jeera aloo after switching off the gas.
  • You can add dry mango powder instead of lemon juice. Add dry mango powder with other spices.
  • You can adjust the spices according to your taste.
  • First heat the oil on a high flame. Once the oil is hot, fry the poori on a medium flame.
  • It is recommended to add carom seeds to the dough of poori. It not only enhances the flavour of poori but aids digestion also.

Ingredients

  • INGREDIENTS OF MASALA POORI:-
  • Whole wheat flour/Gehu Ka Aata - 1 Cup
  • Trumeric powder - a pinch
  • Red Chilli powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Jeera Powder/Cumin powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Jeera/Cumin seeds - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Ajwain/Carom Seeds - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Oil - 2 Teaspoon + for frying
  • INGREDIENTS FOR JEERA ALOO:-
  • Aloo/Potato - 2 boiled
  • Cumin seeds - 1 Teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Trumeric powder - a pinch
  • Red Chilli powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Oil - 2 to 3 Teaspoon
  • Lemon Juice - as per taste
  • Coriander leaves - a handful chopped

Instructions

  1. PREPARING MASALA POORI:- Take a bowl and add whole wheat flour, salr, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, carom seeds, cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon oil. MIx well and add water to make medium soft dough. Then add 1 teaspoon oil and knead the dough. Keep aside to rest for 10 minutes.
  2. After 10 minutes, take a small portion of the dough, grease it with little oil and roll it to make poori.
  3. Meanwhile, heat oil for frying on a high flame. Once the oil is hot, fry the poori on a medium flame.
  4. When the poori turns nice golden, take it out on a tissue paper.
  5. PREPARING JEERA ALOO:-
  6. Heat 2 teaspoon oil in a pan or kadai.
  7. Add cumin seeds and let the seeds crackle. Then add cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder.
  8. Then add diced boiled potato. Toss it well. Saute for few seconds. Then add salt to it. Mix it and cook it on a low flame.
  9. Cover and cook it for 2 more minutes on low flame. Then switch off the gas.
  10. Finally, add lemon juice to it. Mix it. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
