Badam Halwa | Badam Ka Halwa is a mouthwatering dessert.

A delightful treat for sweet lovers ‘Badam Halwa | Badam Ka Halwa’ is simple and easy to make. This is nutritious and tasty halwa with less amount of ghee. You can prepare this halwa for festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali etc. This is rich halwa among all the halwa like Sooji Halwa, Moong Dal Halwa etc. Everyone will love this halwa very much. This is not only tasty but filling too. This has a flavour of saffron/kesar and cardamom powder. Kids and every family member can not resist themselves because it is very appealing. This is a good way to feed almonds to the kids. So, try to make the halwa at your end and enjoy with your loved ones.

This halwa was prepared by Sangeeta Kothari ji – a lovely mom from Khagaria, Bihar.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Add hot water to soaked almonds/badam. Help to remove their skin easily.
  • The consistency of halwa can be adjusted to one’s choice by simply increasing or reducing the quantity of milk.
  • Apart from the dry fruits can be added in the halwa too.
  • Adding saffron gives nice colour and flavour to the dish and so, should be added.

Ingredients

  • Badam/Almonds - 250 Gram
  • Milk - 200 ML + 1 Cup + 1/2 Cup
  • Kesar/Saffron - few strand soaked in 1 tablespoon warm milk
  • Sugar - 1/2 Cup or as per taste
  • Cardamom/Elaichi powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Dried Rose Petals - as required for garnishing
  • Chopped Cashew and Pistachios - as required for garnishing
  • Ghee/Clarified butter - 2 Teaspoon + 1 Teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Soak the badam/almonds overnight. Then drain the water completely and add hot water to it. This will help to remove the almond skin easily.
  2. After peeling, grind the almonds with 200 ml milk to a smooth paste.
  3. Now, heat 2 teaspoon ghee/clarified butter in a pan/kadai.
  4. Add almond paste along with 1/2 cup milk. Cook and stir the mixture continuously for about 2 to 3 minutes on a medium flame.
  5. After 5 minutes, add saffron milk to it. Add 1 to 2 tablespoon milk at a time and cook it for 2 minutes.
  6. Then add 1 teaspoon ghee and 2 to 3 tablespoon milk. Mix well and cook until it thickens. Stir the mixture continuously. (you can adjust the consistency of halwa by increasing or reducing the quantity of milk)
  7. Finally, add sugar and cook it for 2 to 3 minutes. Then switch off the gas.
  8. Take out the halwa in a bowl, garnish it with chopped cashew, pistachios, rose petals and cardamom powder.
  9. Delicious 'Badam Halwa | Badam Ka Halwa' is ready to be served.
