Kadai Paneer | Restaurant Style Kadai Paneer is a very popular and most lovable dish across India

Kadai Paneer | Restaurant Style Kadai Paneer is a mouthwatering curry. The paneer cubes are cooked in rich onion tomato gravy to make this delicious dish. This goes well with naan, paratha, roti or rice. This main course dish has a nice aroma which comes from freshly ground whole spices – kadai masala. The gravy is rich and has a creamy texture because of homemade cream. It also enhances the taste of the dish as well. Generally, this has capsicum and onion which adds flavour and crunch. Now, you can prepare this popular restaurant style recipe at home very easily by following this simple recipe. So, try to make this at home and enjoy with your loved ones.

Ingredients

  • Paneer/Cottage Cheese cubes - 200 grams
  • Green Peas/Matar - 1 cup parboiled (cooked for 1 whistle or boiled for 5 to 10 minutes)
  • Onion - 1 big- sized, chopped
  • Capsicum - 1 diced
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch piece, grated
  • Red chilli powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Kadai Masala - 1 Teaspoon
  • Kasuri Methi/Dry Fenugreek Leaves - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Coriander leaves - as required for garnishing
  • Butter - 2 Tablespoon
  • INGREDIENTS FOR GRAVY:
  • Onion - 1 big sized, roughly chopped
  • Tomato - 3 big sized, roughly chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sugar - a pinch
  • Bay Leaf/Tej Patta - 1
  • Oil - 2 Tablespoon
  • INGREDIENNTS FOR KADAI MASALA:
  • Coriander seeds - 1 Tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds/Jeera - 1 Tablespoon
  • Black pepper corns - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Green cardamom - 2
  • Cinnamon - 2 small stick

Instructions

  1. PREPARING KADAI MASALA:
  2. Dry roast coriander seeds, cumin seeds, black pepper corns, green cardamom, cinnamon stick, bay leaf.
  3. Roast them on a low flame for 3 to 4 minutes or 3 to 4 minutes or until it gets aromatic.
  4. Then let it cool completely. Remove the bay leaf and grind the other ingredients to make powder.
  5. PREPARING GRAVY:
  6. Heat 2 Tablespoon oil in a pan.
  7. Add roughly chopped onion and sauté it on a high flame for couple of minutes.
  8. Then, add roughly chopped tomato and sauté. Add little salt and a pinch of sugar while cooking.
  9. Add bay leaf as well. Cover it with lead and cook for 5 to 7 minutes on a low flame.
  10. Once the tomato softens, turn off the flame. Let it cool completely. Remove the bay leaf and then grind to make smooth paste using water.
  11. PREPARING KADAI PANEER:
  12. In the same pan, add 2 tablespoon of butter and heat it.
  13. Add grated ginger and garlic. Sauté it on a medium flame.
  14. Then, add red chilli powder, turmeric powder. Mix well and sauté for few seconds.
  15. Add above ground paste of onion and tomato. Mix well and cook.
  16. Add 1 teaspoon of above prepared kadai masala. Mix well and cook.
  17. Then add diced onion and capsicum. Mix well and add 1/2 cup water. Stir well, cover with a lid and cook it on a low flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
  18. Finally add paneer cubes. Mix well and cook for a minute.
  19. Beat homemade cream/malai and add it to the pan.
  20. Crush the kasuri methi/dry fenugreek leaves between the palms and add to the pan. Add salt as well. Mix well and cook for a minute. Then turn off the gas.
  21. Delicious 'Kadai Paneer | Restaurant Style Kadai Paneer' is ready to be served. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve hot.
