Pani Wali Pakodi Chaat is a mouth-watering dish.

Pani Wali Pakodi Chaat is a yummy and unique snack. It is a traditional dish. This is a different way of serving the regular besan pakode. The sweet, tangy and spicy water preparation of the dish, makes it tasty and enjoyable. It requires, meethi chutney, mint chutney, chaat masala, roasted cumin seeds powder, red chili powder and lemon juice. Adding the onion rings gives it a nice crunch with the soft pakoda. Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:

  • Sieve the besan before using for the dish.
  • If you want, you can skip onion.
  • Add water on the pakode when they are hot.
  • While frying the pakode, avoid frying till they are brown in color.
  • By squeezing the water from pakodas, the excess oil gets removed.

Ingredients

  • Gram flour/Besan - 1/2 cup
  • Onion/Pyaz - 1/2 finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - as required chopped.
  • Curry leaves - a few chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Turmeric powder/Haldi powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder/Lal mirch powder - to taste
  • Cumin seeds/Jeera - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida powder/Hing powder - a pinch
  • Water - as required
  • Meetha soda/Baking Soda - a pinch
  • Oil - for frying
  • Meethi Chutney - 1/2 cup
  • Mint chutney/Pudina chutney - 2 tablespoon
  • Black salt/Kala namak - to taste
  • Salt - to taste
  • Red chili powder/Lal mirch powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Chaat masala - 2 teaspoon
  • Roasted cumin seeds powder/Bhuna Jeera powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Onion rings - of 1/2 to 1 onion (optional)
  • Lemon juice - of 1/2 lemon

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, put besan, finely chopped onion, coriander leaves, curry leaves, salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin seeds and asafoetida powder.
  2. Add water in small quantity and mix well. Add some besan and water if required, mix well to make it a medium consistency mixture. Put meetha soda and mix.
  3. Heat the oil for frying. Put small portion from the mixture to make pakode. Fry them on medium flame till golden in color.
  4. Take out the pakode in a bowl. Put water and take out a pakoda and squeeze out water from it and keep aside. Repeat the step for the pakodas in the water.
  5. In another bowl, put the meethi chutney, mint chutney, black salt, salt, red chili powder, a pinch of asafoetida powder, chaat masala, and roasted cumin seeds powder.
  6. Then add water, chopped coriander leaves, onion rings and squeeze lemon juice. Put the pakode in the masala water.
  7. Add some water if required, garnish with onion rings and coriander leaves.
  8. The Pani Wali Pakodi Chaat is ready to be served.
