Pav bhaji | Street Style Pav bhaji is a popular fast food dish and also the king of the street food.

Pav bhaji | Street Style Pav bhaji is an iconic dish from Mumbai and hugely popular all over India. The vegetables spiced with a unique blend of spices known as pav bhaji masala and served with pav. It is nutritious as it has a combination of vegetables and no artificial color used during the preparation of bhaji. You can also add vegetables of your choice to make it more nutritious. It is super delicious to taste and similar to the pav bhaji one gets on the street. The vegetable gravy or bhaji is served with pav and cubes of butter are also topped on the hot steaming bhaji while serving. Garnished with coriander leaves and as a side accompaniment, chopped onions, and lemon wedges are also served. Try to prepare this mouthwatering recipe and let us know your feedback.

Ingredients

  • Butter - 2 to 3 tablespoons or as required
  • Green chili - 1 small-sized finely chopped
  • Hing/ asafoetida - a pinch
  • Kashmiri red chili - 3 to 4
  • Garlic - 10 to 12 cloves
  • Water - as required
  • Salt - as required
  • Onion - 1 large-sized finely chopped
  • Capsicum - 1 large-sized finely chopped
  • Tomato - 2 finely chopped
  • Kashmiri red chili powder - as required
  • Pav bhaji masala - 1 tablespoon
  • Garam masala/ all spice mix - 1 teaspoon
  • Boiled potato - 3
  • Boiled peas - 1/2 cup
  • Coriander leaves - finely chopped as required
  • Lemon juice - 1/2 lemon or as required

Instructions

  1. Mash boiled potato and boiled peas. Keep it aside.
  2. Soak kashmiri red chili into the water for half an hour.
  3. Now, take a mixer jar and add soaked kashmiri red chili, garlic, some water, and salt. Grind it to a fine and medium consistency paste. Keep it aside.
  4. Heat a pan and add butter. Allow it to melt.
  5. Add green chili, hing, and 2 teaspoons of above-prepared chutney. Saute it.
  6. Add onion and saute it well.
  7. Add capsicum and tomato. Saute it on a medium flame.
  8. Now, add salt, Kashmiri red chili powder, pav bhaji masala, and garam masala. Saute it.
  9. Add some water and saute it. Allow it to cook for 8 to 10 minutes on a medium flame.
  10. It will start leaving butter, at that time add the above-prepared mixture of mashed potato and peas. Mix it properly.
  11. Add some water and salt. Cook it for 1 to 2 minutes on a medium flame.
  12. Turn off the flame and transfer it to a serving plate.
  13. Garnish it with butter, coriander leaves, a dash of lemon, and onion.
  14. Delicious Pav bhaji | Street Style Pav bhaji is ready to be served.
