Podi Idli | Idli With Gun Powder is a delicious and quick to make breakfast and snack option. This needs just idli, gunpowder and some of the spice. It gets ready within minutes if you have idli. You can use leftover idli as well. Everyone will love and enjoy this idli recipe. You can serve it in the kid’s tiffin or morning breakfast for your family or even an evening snack.   • Use Molaga Podi | Idli Podi | Gunpowder to make this dish.
  • If you do not have gunpowder then you can use pav bhaji masala or simply add turmeric powder and red chilli powder to make this dish.

  • You can use mini idli or normal idli to make the dish. If you are using big sized idli then chop it into pieces.

Ingredients

  • Mini Idli - 10 to 15 or Normal Idli - 5 to 10
  • Molaga Podi | Idli Podi | Gunpowder - 3 to 4 Teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Chana Dal/Bengal Gram - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Urad Dal/Black gram without skin - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Onion - 2 Tablespoon chopped
  • Hing/Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Curry Leaves - few
  • Ghee/Clarified Butter - 2 to 3 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Coriander Leaves - as required for garnishing
  • Oil - 1 Teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Add mustard seeds, chana dal/bengal gram, urad dal/black gram without skin. Saute them until they turn pinkish.
  3. Add curry leaves, asafoetida and onion. Saute for few seconds or until onion turns translucent.
  4. Finally, add ghee, little salt, gun powder/idli podi. Mix well. Then add mini idli. Mix well to coat the idli well. Once done, switch off the flame.
  5. Delicious 'Podi Idli | Idli With Gun Powder' is ready to be served. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve.
