Ingredients

  • Oil - 1 Tbsp + For frying
  • Cumin seeds / Jeera - 1 Tsp
  • Fennel seeds / Saunf - 1 Tsp
  • Ginger / Adarak - 1 Inch grated
  • Green chilli / Hari mirch - 4 to 5 Finely chopped
  • Mint leaves / Phudina - A few
  • Beetroot / Chukandar - 1/4 Cup grated
  • Boiled potato / Aloo - 300 Gms. Peeled and mashed
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirchi powder - 2 Tsp
  • All spice mix powder / Garam masala - 1 Tsp
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1 Tsp
  • Sugar / Sakkar - 1 Tsp
  • Tatri / Nimbu ke phool - 1/2 Tsp
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - A handful
  • All purpose flour / Maida - 1 Tbsp
  • Water - As required
  • Bread crumbs - As required
  • Tsp = Teaspoon
  • Tbsp = Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Take all purpose flour in a bowl. Add water gradually to prepare a medium thick slurry. Keep it aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, fennel seeds, ginger, green chilli, and mint leaves. Mix well.
  3. Now add beetroot and mix well. Saute it for a few seconds. Then add boiled potato. Mix well.
  4. Add red chilli powder, all spice mix powder, salt, turmeric powder, and sugar. Mix well for 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Now add tatri and coriander leaves. Mix well. Keep it aside and let it cool down.
  6. Now prepare small ball-sized kofta from the mixture. Likewise, prepare all kofta from the mixture.
  7. Dip the kofta in the prepared slurry and then coat it with bread crumbs completely. Likewise, prepare all kofta.
  8. Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan to fry the kofta. Place kofta into the hot oil. First, fry them on medium flame then keep the flame low.
  9. Deep fry them until they become crispy and golden brown from all sides.
  10. Once done, take them out to a serving plate using a slotted spoon.
  11. 'Veg Nargis Kofta | Nargisi Kofta' is ready to be served.
