Chilli Paneer Gravy is a popular and lovable dish

Chilli Paneer Gravy is an Indo-Chinese dish famous across India. This has paneer/cottage cheese, some veggies, some sauces. You can make this dish dry and enjoy it as a snack or appetizer. Or can make it with gravy to enjoy as a meal. Moreover, this is quick and easy to prepare using easily available ingredients. Everyone will live and enjoy this dish. Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Make this dish using homemade paneer and homemade tomato ketchup.
  • You can serve this with noodles or fried rice.
  • Put lemon juice in the gravy, if vinegar is not available.
  • You can add either red chili sauce or green chili suace to the gravy.
  • Instead of shallow frying the paneer cubes, you can saute them.
  • Add the red chili powder available with you.

Ingredients

  • FOR PANEER MARINATION:
  • Paneer/Cottage Cheese cubes - 1 cup
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Kashmiri Red Chili Powder/Lal Mirch Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder/Haldi powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Corn flour - 1 tablespoon
  • All purpose flour/Maida - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - as required
  • Oil - for shallow frying
  • FOR GRAVY:
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Ginger - 1/2 Teaspoon grated
  • Garlic - 5 to 6 cloves finely chopped
  • Green chilli - 2 slits
  • Onion - 2 no diced
  • Green Capsicum - 1, diced
  • Red Capsicum - 1/2 to 1 diced
  • Yellow Capsicum - 1/2 to 1 diced
  • Soy Sauce - 1 Tablespoon
  • Tomato Ketchup/Sauce - 1 Tablespoon
  • Green Chilli Sauce - 1 Tablespoon or to taste
  • Salt - to taste
  • Water - 1 to 2 cups
  • Corn flour/Corn starch - 1 Teaspoon
  • Vinegar - 1 teaspoon
  • Til/White Sesame Seeds - as required

Instructions

  1. FOR PANEER MARINATION:
  2. In a bowl, put salt, Kashmiri red chili powder, turmeric powder, corn flour and all purpose flour. Mix with hands. Put this marination mixture=
  3. Mix the paneer cubes and mixture to coat the paneer cubes. Sprinkle some water and mix. Add little water and mix to coat the cubes with the mixture evenly.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, place the marinated paneer cubes in the pan. Flip the cubes to fry evenly. Keep flipping to fry the cubes from all sides and cook on low flame.
  5. FOR GRAVY PREPARATION:
  6. Heat oil in a pan. Sauté finely chopped ginger, garlic and slit green chilli, on a high flame for few seconds.
  7. Then add diced onion and the green, red, yellow capsicum and salt to taste. Sauté on a high flame for few seconds. Keep the veggies crunchy.
  8. Now, add the tomato sauce, green chili sauce and soy sauce. Add water as required to get the desired consistency. Bring the water to boil.
  9. Meanwhile, mix corn flour with little water. Make slurry of it. Add this slurry to the pan. Mix well. Let it cook.
  10. Add the paneer cubes and sauté for few seconds. Put the vinegar and garnish with sesame seeds
  11. Delicious 'Chilli Paneer Gravy' is ready to be served.
