Hung Curd Sandwich is a wonderful treat for kids.

Hung Curd Sandwich is a delicious snack. You just need hung curd, bread, some veggies, and spices to prepare this tasty tiffin for your kids. This sandwich goes well with green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney. You can prepare it for an evening snack or for a kid’s tiffin also. It’s a really easy to make and a super healthy sandwich. So, try to make it at home and enjoy it with your family. Tips and suggestions by the Mom Chef:

  • You can use paneer in the stuffing.
  • Tomato ketchup or green chutney can be used instead of pizza sauce.

Ingredients

  • FOR PREPARING THE STUFFING:
  • Hung curd / Chakka dahi - 1/2 Cup
  • Red bell pepper - 1 tbsp finely chopped
  • Yellow bell pepper - 1 tbsp finely chopped
  • Green capsicum / Shimla mirch - 1 tbsp finely chopped
  • Cucumber / Kheera - 1 tbsp finely chopped
  • Grated carrot / Gajar - 1 tbsp
  • Onion / Pyaz - 1 tbsp finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - A handful chopped
  • Mint leaves / Phudina - A few chopped
  • Oregano - As per taste
  • Red chilli flakes - As per taste
  • FOR PREPARING SANDWICH :
  • Bread Slices - 4
  • Pizza sauce - As required
  • Clarified butter / Ghee - As required
  • Mustard seeds / Rai - 1/2 tsp
  • FOR GARNISHING:
  • Pomegranate seeds / Anar dane - as required
  • Green chutney / Hari chutney - as required
  • Sweet tamarind chutney - as required
  • Coriander leaves - as required
  • tsp = teaspoon
  • tbsp = tablespoon

Instructions

  1. FOR PREPARING THE STUFFING:
  2. Tie the curd in a muslin cloth for 4 to 5 hours to make hung curd.
  3. Take hung curd in a bowl. Add tricolour bell pepper, cucumber, grated carrot, onion, coriander leaves, mint leaves, oregano, and red chilli flakes. Mix well.
  4. FOR PREPARING SANDWICH :
  5. Cut the bread slices into a round shape using a bowl.
  6. Spread pizza sauce on bread slices. Then spread the prepared curd stuffing. Cover it with another bread slice. Seal the edges of the sandwich using water.
  7. Meanwhile, heat ghee in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
  8. Place the prepared sandwich and toast it on a low flame from both sides.
  9. Once it is nicely golden brown from both sides, take it out on a serving plate.
  10. Garnish it with pomegranate seeds, green chutney, sweet tamarind chutney and coriander leaves.
  11. 'Hung Curd Sandwich' is ready to be served with green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney.
